The band made its official debut with their first single in October 1986, one year later. Two years after the band’s formation, Buck-tick’s vocalist Araki left the band, and Sakurai took his place. The band moved to Tokyo, and, after his father died of alcoholism, he decided to dedicate himself to music for the sake of his mother. In 1983, when he was just seventeen years old, the band Buck-Tick was formed, and Sakurai became the drummer of this new band. As a student he was always the rebellious do-nothing type, and after graduation did not seem to be satisfied with any of the small jobs he obtained. He grew up in a broken household his father was an alcoholic and beat his family. ![]() Atsushi Sakurai is best known for his work as the vocalist of the long-time Jrock band Buck-Tick, but he has also launched his own solo career and been a member of his side band, Schwein.
